Success starts here...
Eve Magazine, October 2006

Our eve educates series of workshops kicked off in style with 'Starting your own business', in association with HSBC, and was a phenomenal success. Wish that you's been there? Find out with our report, plus don't miss the chance to sign up for future eve educates events.

Tracey Carr at Eve EducatesFlower arranging? Wine tasting? Most of us can name something we'd like to find out more about, but never make time for, and for the women who came along to 'Starting your own business', realising their dreams of working for themselves was the motivation. In association with HSBC, the world's local bank, 'Starting your own business' brought together business experts (to guide), dynamic speakers (to inspire) and eve readers (to network!), in an entertaining format that was informative, relevant and no-nonsense.

A great day out

The day itself featured seminars on personal development, by Tracey Carr of eve-olution; on running a business and getting finance sorted, with Mike Conroy from HSBC and David Sullivan from Business Link, who were on hand to share their expertise (HSBC has a knowledge network at www.knowledge.hsbc.co.uk for those of you who missed out).

The day was hosted by Maria Kempinska, founder of the UK comedy club Jongleurs. Maria welcomed a host of inspirational speakers, including Lynne Franks, PR guru and founder of SEED; Louise Galvin, founder of Sacred Locks, and Susan Taylor, MD of Elizabeth Arden. All shared theit stories and answered questions, with the wisdom that only comes from having been there, done that, and succeeded! Susan Taylor said, 'What an impressive room of women... eve educates could really take off.' The participants' reward? An Elizabeth Arden goody bag, including Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant and Elizabeth Arden Illuminating Pen.

What's your dream?

One of the speakers, former marketing manager turned 'Woman doing her own thing' Eileen Soriton, loved pampering treatments so much that she made her luxury her living. Now the owner of the highly successful day spa KuBu, in Henley-on-Thames, Eileen came along to share the ups and downs of setting up in business.

For Eileen, a personal development course proved a pivotal moment: 'I thought, yes, I am in a rut,' she explains. 'That night, I wrote that, five years down the line, I wanted to be financially free, to have my own business, to be happy and spending more time with my family... Now I can't believe that most of the things on that list have happened.'

If you think our series of eve educates workshops could be the personal development course you've been looking for, visit www.evemagazine.co.uk for details of future events.
