Survey 2003: Taking It Forward

We are pleased to announce that we are taking this important piece of research forward in partnership with Business Link Hertfordshire, who are currently undertaking a £1 million project looking at glass ceiling issues together with Surrey University. Our November course will be used as a 'sample' in this research which will help define the business case for gender specific development.

The research is a two year action research project related to under representation, exclusion and the gender gap - the project will be researching issues related to recruitment and retention to management, leadership and executive positions, including issues surrounding the "glass ceiling", or where women's roles are estimated to be key, but have previously gone unrecognised and undervalued i.e. Rural, village and farm businesses, Minority Businesses, Family Businesses, Co-ownership (co-Preneurship).

The research aims to identify key barriers to women's engagement and progression. Thus, improving our understanding of the major factors and barriers preventing women entering the workforce and increasing representation of women in leadership and managerial positions.

As part of the project, being undertaken by Exemplas Ltd, the researchers are keen to hear from and speak to Women in Senior and Executive positions in order to test the findings and improve their understanding of the initial phases of the research. Researchers Professor Mark Hart from Surrey University and Toni Eastwood from Exemplas will attend our November Creative Female Leader Programme.
